The Harbor Seals Swim Team is currently in its 16th year as a
competitive age group swim team and is affiliated with USA
swimming, the national governing body for competitive swimming in
the United States. Its focus is on developing goal oriented,
motivated individuals who wish to achieve success in swimming
through a combination of instruction, training and competition.
Prospective Harbor Seals must be competent in the four competitive
strokes and meet age appropriate time standards. Children from age
7 to 12 are eligible for selection, but members who wish to
continue past the age of twelve may remain through high school.
Harbor Seals coaches, many of them licensed teachers, are
certified by the American Red Cross in CPR, Water Safety and First
Aid, are USA Swimming members and have completed the American Swim
Coaches Association's Level One requirements. In addition, several
parent volunteers are certified USAS member coaches who assist as
deck coaches during sanctioned swim meets.
